Use a laxative, or some Milk of Magnesia. THe Milk of Magnesia does not taste really good you get results with in an hour or 2.

Drink more water and eat more fiber (fruits and vegetables).

Stool softeners and plenty of water. Would take about 24 hours.

You can take a couple of tablespoons of cooking oil, or an enema (if you’re cramping too bad to wait for the oil to get into your large intestine to lube things up).

You can also buy some over the counter stool softeners, but those take a good while.

I’d recommend the oil if you can get it down, and it should do its magic in a couple of hours.

Over-the-counter stimulant laxatives are the quickest way. If you take the recommended dose, it should alleviate your constipation within 6 to 12 hours. There are also natural laxatives pills such as Senna. The downside is that you might experience some cramping and discomfort from taking these. You also don’t want to use them regularly, as you may become dependent on them.

Certain foods and drinks can also help. Prune juice is fairly effective. Raisins, dates, and dried apricots can also work. Drinking plenty of water and getting adequate fiber may let your digestive system correct itself.

    FLAX SEED OIL.

A little bit TMI (but hey so is constipation) but over the summer I kept pooping all the time. Like I would wake up early in the morning because I had to go so bad, and I couldn’t figure out why.
Then I did a little research and discovered that the flax seed oil that I was using instead of vegetable/canola oil was the cause.

TOO MUCH flax seed will result in my situation; a case where you essentially have the runs because you’re only supposed to eat a little bit of flax seed, whereas I had been eating it by the tablespoons. But like I said, I had no issues going to the bathroom and when I started cooking with it I just had constant pooing episodes in the mornings. So unless you drink bottles of it, you should be fine regardless.
But JUST ENOUGH flax seed will probably help your blockage. Use it to cook if you’re desperate, or just drizzle some on a good salad or eat with bread or something.

And flax seed oil is available at your local grocery store, just in case you’re not sure what it is. It has an interesting taste, kinda like olive oil, but not disgusting by any means. If you cook with it, you probably won’t taste it at all.

Don’t rely on chewable laxatives or pills; drugs are not always the solution. Try natural sources of fiber first :)

As for how long it takes, give it a day, two at most. The oil is being processed and broken down as quickly as your regular meals are, so it should be within 24 hours really.
